I have the honour to inform you that it has come to the knowledge of this Government that on the 21st April the S. 8. "China" shipped from Macao ostensibly consigned to Mexico 132 chests each containing 200 five tael tins of prepared opium.

I should be obliged if you would inform me whether these chests have reached Mexico, as it is possible that they may have been smuggled into China.
